Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly got its start in 1991 as Northwest Indiana Magazine, an economic development business news publication conceived and created by Glee Renick-May. The magazine was then and began as a joint venture/partnership with the Northwest Indiana Forum. For more than a decade, Northwest Indiana Magazine was published twice a year under the ownership of Curtis Magazines, Inc., and publisher Eric Servaas of Indiana Business Magazine.
In 2001, Northwest Indiana Magazine was renamed Northwest Indiana Business soon changed to Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly in 2002, to reflect its move to a quarterly publication encouraged by the forum executive board and former Executive Director, Tom McDermott. Dean White, CEO of Whitco Industries was the inaugural cover CEO profile.
In March 2009, May Communications Group, LLC was formed and took over the ownership with Glee Renick-May, as the publisher and CEO.
Today, Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly continues the tradition as a leading regional business magazine, advised by an executive editorial and advisory board of business leaders and visionaries. NWIBQ is in itself a remarkable success story. In 2011, Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly will be celebrating its 20th anniversary.
The magazine’s primary distribution is the Greater Northwest Indiana region and surrounding 8 counties, including St. Joseph County and the South Chicago Business District.
